Vista Missing Operating System- Studio XPS 435 MT

I have a XPS 435
with Home Premium 64 that I purchased in 2009 and have rarely used. It's
basically stock with the addition of Norton 360, hooked up to a wireless HP
printer and plugged into a APC 1250 Backups. All I've ever done with it is
store family photos on it and check e-mail.. The other day I went turned it on
and the Dell logo screen came up and then it went to a black screen with the
text "Missing Operating System".

If I Ctrl+Alt+Delete
the Dell logo appears with options F2 Set Up & F12 Boot Options then it
returns to black screen with "Missing Operating System"

If I choose F2 a
blue page titled CMOS Setup Utility. If I choose F12 I am asked to select boot
device:

SATA:WDC
WD6400AAKS-75A7B2, CD/DVD:HL-DT-ST DVD-ROM DH2, SATA:WDC WD6400AAKS-75A7B2,
CD/DVD:TSSTcorp DVD+/-RW TS-H65

Network:IBA GE
Slot 00C8 v1324, Diagnostics, Boot to UtilityPartition & <Enter
Setup>

When I choose the
first drive,( which I presume is my primary HD) it exits and back I go to
"Missing Operating System"

I have tried
hitting F8 but this does nothing.

I have booted
from the Dell provided Operating System disk and ran the Repair your computer
option. A window titled System Recovery Options opens and asks me to select an
operating system to repair But there is nothing listed. It then says if I do
not see a system lick load drivers for the hard drives. I clicked Load Drivers
and an Add Drivers box opens and requests me to insert media for the device and
click ok for the driver. MEDIA?!  WHAT
SHOULD I BE LOADING?

I ignored this
and clicked NEXT and a System Recovery Option box appeared requesting I choose
recovery tool: Startup Repair, System Restore,Windows Complete PCRestore,
Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool, or Command Prompt.

I have tried the
Start up repair several times and received the message "We cannot repair
this computer automatically" Root cause found :Partition table is

corrupt on \device\harddiskD. Repair action:partition table repair.
Result:Failed Error Code =0x490

Problem Details:
Problem Event Name:StartupRepairV2

Table, PS10: 116s8, OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.256.1 Locale ID: 1033

A Startup message
suggested I remove any recently attached devices, cameras or music player, and
restart computer but I haven’t attached anything- all I have connected is my
wireless Logitech mouse/keyboard device and the APC Backups cord. The same
stuff I've had for years.

I also tried
System Restore and I believe there were no restore records.

ANYONE KNOW
HOW TO FIX THIS?
