I just purchased an XPS 8700 that has Windows 7 Pro installed but it came with a DVD entitled:
Operating System
Already installed on your computer
Windows 8.1 Recovery Media for Windows 8.1 Products 64-bit
In addition, the sticker on the box shows Windows 7 Pro is installed and Windows 8.1 Pro is included, and the XPS itself has a Windows 8 sticker on the back. However, I cannot find any evidence that Windows 8.1 is installed - the computer boots up to Windows 7 Pro. When I tried running the setup from the DVD, it went through quite a bit of setup and then finished with a message that Windows 8 could not be installed and it was reverting back to Windows 7. Can someone please explain how Windows 8.1 can be installed if the documentation states that it comes with Windows 8.1 Pro?
