Don't know how to fix this problem, but I have a XPS 8700 and recently (last couple months) it will not go into sleep mode. Instead it crashes when it should sleep. Even if I try to put the computer into sleep mode manually, the screen goes dark on my monitor, but the computer light does not turn to red, it stays white as if it is still on. Even if I move my mouse, the computer will not respond and then some time later it completely shuts down (crashes). Either way, I have to start fresh each time I want to use my computer, and turn it on manually and start this process over and over. Not sure what the problem is and what to do about it.....any help is appreciated.
Thanks,

Due to issues of using the monitor USB ports and sleep modes, the following USB devices should NOT be plugged into the monitor. They should be plugged into USB ports on the rear of the computer -
mouse, keyboard, USB Hubs, USB hard drives, wireless mouse/keyboard transmitter, printer, scanner* Click Start
* Type cmd
* Click cmd at the top of the box
* Type powercfg -restoredefaultschemes [press Enter]
* Type exit [press Enter]
* Re-test(Liaison for Desktops, Alienware, Monitors)

Yes{count}'>Like 0Thanks for the effort Chris. unplugged all USB connections from top USB slot and plugged into the back of computer (mouse,keyboard,etc) and performed the dos command sequence. Did not work. tried to put the computer monitor to turn off after 1 minute and the computer to sleep after 2 min, and the monitor went off after the first minute, then the computer did nothing for the next couple minutes. Then the monitor turned itself back on and I was staring at my desktop icons again. I was able to manually put it to sleep, but after checking on it just now, it had turned off completely at some point. Any other suggestions?
