Unable to Decipher Windows OS Product Key for Dell Inspiron 15R

Hi there,

 

The product key on the back of my Inspiron 15R has worn away (head damage I think). My problem is that I had a problem with windows and had to do an uninstall which fortunately for me the IT technician in work kindly did for me - when trying to reinstall it would not accept the product key that we both deciphered from the back of the laptop. I have a picture of the product key if you would like me to send it to you.

My query now is how do I find out what the correct format/numbers for the product key are. I have been told by one of your technicians, Saharsh that I would have to supply proof of purchase, i.e.. an invoice. I bought my system in PC World in the <ADMIN NOTE: Address removed per privacy policy> and as I was completely happy with the system did not keep my receipt, also it was purchased over a year ago. I don't know about you but if I was to keep receipts for products that I buy for more than 18 months my home would be covered with receipts.  

I'm finding this extremely frustrating and as I'm sure  you can understand am certainly not willing to purchase another version of windows to install on my laptop.

I would be grateful if somebody could get back to me about this query as soon as possible as this has been going on for some time now.
